My research question was how has the usage of the phrase, “Cable TV” changed in relation to the usage of the word, “Netflix” over time? I looked both words up on COCA and looked at the graphs. I found that Cable TV had peaked in the years 1990-1994 and declined as the years progressed. The word, “Netflix” was the complete opposite, and started out with little usage but only grew as the years went on. This data shows how Netflix could have been one of the main reasons for the decline of Cable TV due to the correlation of the changes in the usage of these two words.
