Ethics

I. This policy is to lay the groundwork for the use of AI in an academic setting. This will affect students and teachers both inside the classroom and outside the classroom on any academic work.

II. Generative AI: Any AI that may generate images, videos, text, or any other source of media.

Academic Honesty: Acting in a way that is honest and fair towards academic work and your studies.

III. Integrity and Honesty: AI is not to be used on any assignment unless specifically stated otherwise.

Equity and Accessibility: AI tools will be accessible to everyone. The tools provided will be the same for everybody.

Privacy and Security: Data will be collected from the AI tools, only to know if they are being used fairly or not. This data will not be distributed to anybody.

IV. Educational Use Cases: Can be used in certain situations to enhance work. For example, an image generator can be used to create artwork for assignments or a chatbot can be used to generate prompts for English class.

Prohibited Uses: Cannot be used to complete assignments, or do any sort of work that one will call their own.

Collaboration and Sharing: There will be no regulation regarding the sharing of AI unless it is done through school-issued technology. If this is the case, any AI-generated media that may be found to violate policies will be punished.

V. Students: May use AI for the reasons as discussed in the previous section.

Teachers and Staff: The use of AI to create ideas for assignments is allowed, however, AI should never be used to grade students work. The teachers should monitor any AI usage in the classroom if AI is allowed to be used.

Administrators: Administrators should be educated on Artificial Intelligence, and should be able to answer any questions on the topic.

VI.

Monitoring Use: Students activity will be monitored and can be accessed at a later date if needed.

Handling Violations: If one is found to have used AI in a way that is not permitted, they can be punished with consequences that will be decided upon after being found guilty.

VII.

Training and Education: Optional classes should be provided that teach students how to ethically use AI. Teachers will have an in-service day where they will be taught about AI.

Technical Support: The technology help desk will be able to answer any and all questions that one may have on AI.

VIII.

Policy Review Schedule: The policies should be reviewed once a year on an annual basis.
